Continuing Funding for the International Fund for Ireland

Since the 1990s, the United States has reaffirmed its continued commitment to a strong and peaceful society on the island of Ireland. The United States has proudly joined our global partners in supporting the work of the International Fund for Ireland as part of our global aid. The International Fund for Ireland is an independent organization that supports economic regeneration and social development projects in areas most affected by the decades of violence in Northern Ireland. Since its inception in 1986, IFI’s projects have made vital contributions to improving the physical and economic infrastructure in some of the area’s most vulnerable communities.

Standing with Our Brothers and Sisters in the Labor Movement

As James Connolly said, “the cause of labor is the cause of Ireland, the cause of Ireland is the cause of labor.” Irish Americans for Harris celebrate the proud tradition and unbreakable bond between the Irish American community and the labor movement. We support candidates who protect the rights of workers to organize, bargain collectively, and expand the union density throughout the country.

Trade

We believe that Kamala Harris will promote the mutually beneficial economic relationship between Ireland and the U.S. The two countries now engage in extensive trade and investment with U.S. companies finding a trusted partner in Ireland. Shared economic values, access to talent and to the expansive European Single Market, make Ireland a particularly attractive business environment.

There are now 970 US companies in Ireland, employing 378,000 people directly and indirectly and spending more than €41 billion in the Irish economy annually.

Preserving the Good Friday Agreement & Ongoing Support for Peace

Prior to the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, Northern Ireland suffered from decades of violence between the British Army and both Irish Republican and British Loyalist paramilitaries. Irish Americans for Harris believe that American involvement in the Irish Peace Process remains one of the best successes of modern U.S. Foreign Policy. We believe that in order to ensure the integrity of the agreement, and ongoing peace, the U.S. must maintain active involvement in sustaining the peace.

Fixing a Broken Immigration System

Irish Americans for Harris proudly celebrates our nation’s immigrant tradition. We believe that until we are able to fix our broken immigration system, our country will be unable to reach its full potential. We celebrate the legacy of Irish Immigrants who have helped build the United States, and we see immigration as a source of strength for our nation. Irish Americans for Harris advocate for and stand in solidarity with undocumented Irish who lack any real options to earn a pathway to citizenship.

“Our unity is our strength, and our diversity is our power. We reject the myth of “us” vs. “them.” We are in this together. ”

— Kamala Harris
